Old Moor

A great first visit to RSPB Old Moor, on the way to visit family in Sheffield (on route from Scarborough) and what a great visit and place it turned out to be.

Not masses of rarities, but a few new ticks for me and a fair bit of variety considering the time of year and half the reserve (the Bitten hide area) shut for new paths and the like.

One disappointment as we had to leave early for the actual visit to see Alistair and Katy was us missing the Spoonbill, but the six hours or so spent on site were excellent.

Ringed Plovers (from a very long way away but a new bird for me, further away were 2 Ruffs and 2 Spotted Redshanks, not photographed but again firsts)

Snipes (another new bird for me, it's good when you start, the first couple of years lots are new birds!!!)

Last Days of Summer at Tophill Low

Last Days of Summer at Tophill Low
07/09/2013
Tophill Low, Watton, Driffield

Another great day out at Tophill Low, saw a variety of wildlife, but the first real signs of the end of summer, with many of the summer migrant bird life already left and the winter arrivals few and far between.

There was still plenty to see if not photograph, including, Marsh Harrier, Hobby, Kestrel, Buzzard, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Common Sandpiper, Great Crested Grebe and Goldcrest to name a few.

It's not just the birdlife at Tophill Low we like but the variety of all wildlife, with some as registered in below in the photographs.

Harbour Porpoises

Harbour Porpoises
02/09//2013 to 05/09/2013
Off The Marine Drive, Scarborough

A few good sightings of Harbour Porpoises of the Marine Drive this last week while taking in a bit of late summer sunshine.

And just to add to a nice wander a few Guillemots about fishing reasonably close to the outer harbour wall.
