Top Hill Low

Top Hill Low

Top Hill Low Nature Reserve, Near Driffield

The second visit in just over a week to this great reserve, mainly to see a few things, all of which turned up / showed well when we were visiting, these being the Kingfishers, the Marsh Harriers, Grass Snakes and the first sighting this year of the beautiful Bee Orchid.

Another great day and looking forward to another visit soon.

Brompton Butts

After a fruitless walk round Brompton Ponds at lunchtime, due to an increasing mass weed problem and no spare surface water on view, I noticed a pair of House Martins starting to build a nest under the verge of a house gable end, noting their work levels were fantastic.

I hope to record now throughout the summer, a pair of House Martins during hopefully a successful breeding season.

Fingers crossed!!!!!

Little Grebes with little chicks at Brompton Ponds on my usual lunch time walk.

A first for me what great little birds.

Not great photographs as along way away but great to see.

Top Hill Low

Top Hill Low

Top Hill Low Nature Reserve, Watton, Near Driffield

Excellent day out at Top Hill as usual, great visibility and loads of different wildlife on view.

Good to see that the Kingfishers are using the North Marsh for fishing on a regular basis again

One of the things noted around the North Marsh Hide was the Marsh Frogs calling very loudly all day. Though I have heard them before it was the first time both seen and caught on camera for me.

Summer must be coming as the Orchids were starting to appear, though I think to early for the Bumble Bee Orchid seen last year, but then again it's a good excuse to go back in a couple of weeks.
